Choose the result you actually need
| Your goal | Where to look | Check before spending |
|---|---|---|
| More Cobuns during this run | Chorus pickups or purchases. [1] | Current formation capacity; full-release notes confirm Chorus can still be sold when you are already at the limit. [2] |
| More Cobuns at the start | Support Desk formation upgrades. [1] | The description of the starting formation upgrade, not just a maximum-capacity upgrade. |
| More selectable Cobun types | Quest Board tasks for the relevant Ratatan. [1] | Use the leader named by the quest and claim the reward. |
| Use another leader’s class | Community wiki describes clearing World 5 with the class-associated Ratatan. [3] | Single-source community guidance with older-version material; confirm the unlock in your current game before planning repeated runs. |
The facility and quest distinctions come from an Early Access guide, supported where noted by full-release patch notes. We have not tested current numerical caps, costs or every leader’s unlock route.
At camp: diagnose a missing option
- Check the equipped leader. Quest Board unlocks are associated with particular Ratatans. A task completed on the wrong leader is not evidence that your intended class is broken. [1]
- Read and claim the quest reward. v1.1.9 lists a known issue where the Quest Board NPC may not show an exclamation mark after a task is completed. Inspect the board instead of relying only on the marker. [2]
- Read the Support Desk description. Starting formation slots and maximum size are separate questions. Pick the upgrade that changes the thing you want. [1]
- Review the formation before departure. An unlocked type, an available slot and the unit actually equipped are three separate checks. This last step is our synthesis of the facility and formation guidance. [1]
Which leader is associated with which class?
AppMedia’s September 2025 class table gives the following associations. These are a way to find the relevant leader’s tasks, not a strength ranking or a claim that every type is immediately available. [1]
| Ratatan | Cobun class |
|---|---|
| Harigittan | Sword and shield |
| Keroronpa | Bomb |
| Mimizukyun | Archer |
| Nyandola | Thrown spear |
| Pyokorappa | Charge spear |
| Kamonelo | Magic |
| Mashuma | Scythe |
| Buttonda | Hammer |
Should you avoid unlocks to shrink the recruit pool?
We do not recommend that strategy from the available evidence. In the full-release recruiting discussion, the original poster later corrected their earlier theory: they reported that the pool was already present and unlocks made units editable. Replies still disagreed about how reinforcements use loadouts. This is one discussion, not a controlled test. [4]
Use a visible reward description to decide whether a quest helps your formation. Do not delay permanent choices solely because a comment claims it manipulates random recruits. If Chorus does nothing, first check the cap; that explanation has clearer support than an unverified pool theory. [1][2]
