Ratatan Episode 3 locked: progression checks

First check Episode 2 completion and the Oath setting. If the Bonboya Gate shows every melody but Episode 3 remains locked, the developers have confirmed a display bug: Dark Ratatan encounter requirements can still be unmet, and the game currently cannot show which ones are missing. This is a check sequence, not a guaranteed fix. [1][2][3]

Three checks before another run

  1. Confirm the prior episode. The v1.1.9 notes say clearing Episode 2 unlocks Episode 3, and clearing Episode 3 unlocks Episode 4. A World clear is not automatically proof that every episode/story requirement is complete. Review the episode you actually cleared. [2]
  2. Check Goddess Games Oath Level. The FAQ starts Episode 2 at Oath Level 1 or higher and says the requirement increases by one for each next episode. Check the current selection, but do not assume raising Oath alone resolves the gate bug. [1]
  3. Separate the gate display from encounter completion. On 16 October, the team confirmed that collected-melody indicators may appear before enough Dark Ratatan encounters have happened. All icons lit is therefore not sufficient evidence. [3]

What each result means

What you can establishNext decision
The previous episode has not been clearedComplete that progression requirement first; do not diagnose the UI bug solely from a locked next episode. [2]
The selected Oath Level does not match the next episode requirementCorrect the selection, then reassess the gate. This addresses the setting, not an unverified encounter count. [1]
Prior episode and setting look correct, melodies show complete, gate is still lockedYour symptoms fit the announced display issue. Record them and check platform-specific patch notes; we cannot identify the missing encounter from the icon state. [3]
You are looking for an exact missing-enemy checklist in the UIThe 16 October notice says that information is not currently available. We will not invent a checklist or a required number of repeat clears. [3]

Useful evidence to keep

Capture the platform, full game version, selected episode, Oath Level, gate display and what you most recently cleared. If you remember a recent Dark Ratatan encounter, include it as an observation, not proof that every encounter requirement is satisfied. This record makes your report more specific without pretending the interface exposes hidden progress.

Use the feedback entry in the official Steam issue notice ↗ (external site, opens in a new tab). If a save also fails to load, the FAQ says not to delete or overwrite it; report that separate symptom to support. [3][1]

What would count as a confirmed resolution?

As checked on 19 October 2026, the latest notice reviewed here targets an early-week patch after testing and warns that timing can differ by platform. That schedule is an intention, not proof a patch has reached your device. Look for release notes explicitly addressing Episode 3 or the gate display, then compare the installed version. [3]

A later fix may make the icons useful again. Until it is verified, a repeated run, reinstall or save reset is not a documented universal solution. This page does not recommend those as repairs.
